Spanish cuisine has positioned itself as one of the best in the world. In haute cuisine we boast three restaurants in the list of the top ten worldwide, including the number one in 2013: El Celler de Can Roca (Girona).

Our traditional cuisine, enriched through centuries of historical activity, is a source of healthy, high quality products. It is based on the Mediterranean Diet, which in 2010 UNESCO included on the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

A staple food in the Mediterranean diet is olive oil, synonymous with health. We are the world’s largest producer of olive oil—the best olive oils in the world are Spanish and feature in food museums and olive oil tours.

The famous tapas, accompanied by a glass of good wine, beer or favorite drink, are part of the Spanish cultural identity and called "miniature cuisine". They are increasingly copied internationally and used in haute cuisine as a starter. Countless locals specialize in "tapas" throughout the country for the enjoyment of visitors with their variety, quality and great taste.

There are many restaurants and places where you can enjoy our famous paella or a good ham.

In wine, Spain is leading the world; we have the largest area of cultivated vineyards with nearly 1.2 million hectares (more than 15% of the world total).

With their different climates, each region has its own wines and many wine trails, ideal for winemakers and skilled amateurs as well as the novice, who will learn how to participate in ‘wine tasting’ on winery tours.
